A lovely pair of Olive-backed Sunbirds came to build their nest under our mop in the Spring of 9th April 2011. The nest took 38 days to built and on the 40th day, our little Sunbird laid her eggs in the nest. :)
The eggs hatched 12 days later on 30th May 2011. The hatchlings took another 3 weeks to grow from a featherless, helpless baby bird to a yellow, fluffy birdie that can't wait to spread its wings in the sky.
Sunbirds form monogamous pairs and stay together for life. They are excellent parents that take good care of their young. Once the baby birds are able to take off, the Sunbirds show their offsprings around on the best places to get food, water and shelter. The young continue to follow their parents until they are independent enough to be on their own.
