@bimmjim Hmmmm.... My apologies. What type of nuclear plant did you work at? And did you mention the lack of standards to supervisors?
-
@CalicoVall I did metallurgy on parts for N-Power plants and parts for airplanes. When I ran into a problem with quality control on sealing rings for pumps meant to pump radio active liquids, I found that there were no standards at all. That is why I know that there are unsolvable problems in Nuclear Power. I have some research papers on this. I am not impressed by your capitals, dingbat.
-
@bimmjim And you are not acknowledging mine. The United States, at the least, HAS STANDARDS COMPARABLE TO THE AVIATION INDUSTRY. That's why there hasn't been a new one built since the 70's.
-
@CalicoVall You are not comprehending my points. If you apply the engineering method to N-Power plants as it is applied to airplanes, you wouldn't build N-Power plants. Get it?
-
@bimmjim And, so, we make power with nuclear powerplants.
-
@CalicoVall: You dingbat: We fly around in airplanes.
-
@bimmjim And if we applied that engineering method to cars, they would either be too expense to buy for the average consumer or would never be made in the first place.

Great video :-)

There will never be an accident on the scale of Chernobyl in the USA. We have water moderated reactors and we have huge concrete containment buildings. The Russians 30 years ago used graphite moderated reactors and only had thin sheet metal containment buildings. They also did not follow procedures due to a cultural egotism. Please do research before making claims and bad analogies. No one in the USA has died from a nuclear energy accident but people die everyday in cars.

So the risk is not zero,
And the down side of ther risk is what?
Wow, great logic. The Titanic is so similar to safety at a nuclear reactor! Nuclear reactors are at risk of being sunk by icebergs, are made with brittle low quality steel... oh wait. There could be another Chernobyl, sure. There could be another Titanic too. The laws of physics haven't changed, but the design of reactors (and ships) has. There's a reason why large ships aren't suck by icebergs anymore...of course some idiots could still build another Chernobyl or Titanic. We won't though!

Your logic is ridiculously stupid.
"Because the Titanic sank, we can never trust anything else to ever work properly in the world."
