My first version of Time Man's theme was a remake made specifically for the very first game. That why it sounds a bit monotone and has fewer colors in the sprites. This 2nd version however is a remake of how Time Man and his theme would look and sound like in the later Mega Man games. The music is upgraded with more effects and melodies to suit the original song.

The sprite is still the same one that I created, the colors are different. The early Mega Man games use two colors in the body of the sprite, the later ones use three, as does Time Man here. And yes, that means it doesn't have each and every color like in the official artworks. Compromises like the -no blue diamond in the forehead and no colors in the chestclock- had to be made.

For the level-background I thought it would be fun to try and make an "official" 8-bit Time Man stage. I decided to use the retro scenery construction packs that they made for Mega Man Powered Up. I had every tile from the 'Old Time' pack painstakingly transferred to my PC. After which I analysed Time Man's level and rebuilt an existing part of the level with the 8-bit tiles. I can say that this process took more time than making the damn song. But it just seemed like a fun thing for the video.

So yeah, I hope you guys enjoy all of it. And of course I'll be doing the same for Oil Man.

The Time Man theme and stage tiles are the property of Capcom. The sprite is created and colored by myself.

  • Have not heard the original but it's an alright tune, I do think you should make more and vear off from mostly Mega man ones but you know keep doing it. I'll always have a listen even if it's not a particular favorite you remake, the world in general need more 8-bit.

  • I get what you mean. Lots of remakes of other video game tunes are on their way though. I've even got original 8-bit music planned. It's just that the channel started out with Mega Man songs, and I just love Mega Man in general. So I guess they'll always kind of stick around.

  • Really awesome! Will you do Oil Man next?

  • The part that starts from 0:37 should have a little bit more echo in it. Even so, this is still a really well made 8-bit demake.

  • @OrangMario It WOULD sound great.

  • love me some time man

    fuck yah

  • I love how you kept the classic drums. I hate how they got scrapped in Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10. Awesome work!

  • You do know after this, many of us are expecting OilMan v2. :p
