@pratikh I'm a Tesla fan but his free energy ideas would not make nearly enough power to run a modern economy. His wireless power DISTRIBUTION would probably have been an ecological disaster and wouldn't work from a business aspect.
Tesla DID give us AC power. Edison wanted DC because DC can't go very far and he would have built thousands of nice expensive power plants in the US. AC allowed long distance transfer of electricity and therefore far fewer, larger power plants and cheaper power.

@pratikh It's sad... If you mention Tesla to *almost* anyone, they won't even recognize the name, let alone what his ambitions were, and what he's done / what could have been for our world.

Thomas Edison actually stole a lot of ideas from Nikola Tesla and got rich off of them. Tesla wanted power to be free and usable by anyone, but Edison turned it into a pay-to-use concept. Think about it... free energy for the entire world.
