Hi Ashley! To be perfectly honest, the braces did kind of hurt and annoy me...but it was REALLY worth it in the end! Just be sure to wear your retainers after you get them off, seriously. I had braces when I was 12, and then didn't wear my retainers...and that's why I had to have braces a second time. What's the latest with your braces - do you have them on yet?

@JolieNYC My orthodontist told me many moons ago that it wasn't the straightening that was hard - a few teeth pulled here and some wire tightening there -- it was the retention.

I left my retainer out for too long in my twenties and when I tried to force it back in I think i cracked most of my molars (small pressure cracks) which later led to lovely root canals.

I am going to fast forward and see how your teeth turned out.

Jolie, I'm 14 and may have to get braces. I'm scared because most of my frends have regular metal ones and they said it really hurts having them tightened all the time. Any difference between metal braces and clear ones?
