I made this film using very rare footage I discovered raw and untouched in the national archives. This is the largest oceanic battle in history. Please note that this footage views both the Japanese, Australian , and U.S Military engaging in one of the most horrific battles ever. It has the reputation of being the largest battle in history and took place over a three day span. I worked very hard editing this short film and appreciate input. Thanks for watching.

  • americans are cancer

  • @1ProfessorXavier:

note that most of the composite airgoups on the escort carriers of Taffy1, 2 and 3 in this battle used wildacts (not hellcats). also note that VB10 on Enterprise never gave up their dauntlesses until summer 1944 when they ended their tour! :-)

  • Did you think that no one would notice that you blatantly plagiarized Victory at Sea episode 19? Please do not claim that the great work done to create this acclaimed TV series from the 1950s is your own. You dishonor those who fought in the battle as well as cheat those who made the original. please credit those who actually created this. All you did was edit it with new music and add some subtitles.

  • I also like

  • Your hard work shows thru. I like the pacing you set and the sequence of they clips throughout.

Quite professional looking. You should be proud of the salute you've given our WW2 vets. There are still a few of them around. God bless em all. And thank you for posting. Too many folks are still unaware of the sacrifices made for freedom in WW2. Keep the story alive!

  • Well done; however, there are clips of aircraft (F4F Wildcat fighters, and SBD Dauntless dive bombers) which were holdiing the line in '42 when we were on thin ice. SBD's were responsible for the sinking of four Jap carriers in the Battle of Midway; almost a Japanese victory until that happened. The F6F Hellcat fighters, and SB2C Helldiver bombers were the ones which replaced these in mid '43 and fought in the Leyte Gulf conflict. Also of note was the footage of the TBM Avenger Torpedo bombers.

  • I think you did a really great job. I also like to see a text description of what I am looking at so I can relate to the real histories of the ship in that battle. I am just an amateur war history buff.

  • excellent.

  • Great job. At about 4:45 is that a sonar or radar operator?

  • i see few photographs of this battle in one pier in leyte way back 2000 in a trip..
