Horrible movie... if you realize the time the country was going through, it was simply a shock movie and another retard part an actor took because the academy loves retards.

very similar film to "asphalt jungle" 1950.The director and the actors have skillfully manipulated a feeling of deep sympathy for characters that are involved in criminal activity.After all,the implication is that joe buck has just commited a homicide and yet ,just a few scenes later on the bus,the audience is brought to tears for the 2 main characters.
