Real APBT VS American bully

*So many people are asking me WHY I made this video. How many times have you turned on the news and see PIT BULL ATTACK? Only to find out later that the dog that attacked wasnt a "pit bull" or even a bully breed at all? It happens very often. So many people don't know the difference in breeds. To most people, any dog that looks like a molosser breed is a "pit bull" Some people even mistake breeds like labs for pit bulls! Why? Because of all the confusion! I've met other APBT owners who couldnt even tell a boxer and APBT apart... kinda sad. Why not just call each breed by name to clear up confusion? I consider the American bully its own breed. And the ABKC considers them their own breed... so why can't everybody else?
I don't even like the term "pit bull" If somebody asks me what breed my dog is I say "American pit bull terrier" not pit, pittie, or pit bull. I love the breed and will do anything to change people opinions of them. Calling every breed that looks like a molosser breed a "pit bull" is just stupid, and gives the media more of a reason to call each attacking dog a pit bull. If you want to shorten the name of the breed...
American pit bull terrier- APBT
American staffordshire terrier- Am.staff
Staffordshire bull terrier- Staffy
American bully- Am.bull or Am.bully

Yea... this kida turned into a rant, but you understand what I'm saying. If you want to change peoples minds about the breeds then maybe you should start by calling the breed what it really is, not just calling them "pit bulls"

The differences between the American bully and the American pit bull terrier. They are not the same breed, the American bully is becoming its own breed, and is not the same breed as the APBT. I have no clue how people could get these two breeds mixed up.
If you plan on adopting/buying one of these breeds PLEASE do your homework. They are both great breeds, but need a lot of work. Socilization and training are a MUST. If you plan on getting one of these breeds do your homework, and understand what the require. And check the BSL laws in your area before even thinking about getting one! Vote NO on BSL!! BSL rips families apart!

I got a beautiful mixed 6 month old puppy. His father was an American Staffordshire Terrier and his Mom an American Pit Bull Terrier. But he already is much bigger then most of the other Amstaffs here in the neighbourhood (wich are adults). His father was also very big for an Amstaff though.

Now my question is (allthough i'm not supposed to call it a specific breed, but it makes random outside conversations much easier), what's probably the most specific breed i can call him? Pitt or Amstaff ?

@cavello89 Its up to you, Since he is so large you could call him an Amstaff or Amstaff-mix... You don't have to leave the "mix" part out. ;) My male dog is an APBT/beagle, I always let people know hes a mix, normally people are less afraid of him compared to my pure bred APBT. So letting people know hes a mix isn't really a bad thing. :)

I got one question if the american bully is a "mut" how do they register them as UKC or other regestries? Im just asking because Im new to the whole pitbull thing and I got alot of question about the breed or breeds for that matter

@gravitythakid They are quickly becoming their own breed. They even have their own registry now (ABKC) and can be reg. with the UKC and ADBA. Some people view them as pure bred, and some people don't. They are still a very new breed, so it might take some time for them to be considered their own breed and not a pit bull.

@CityofPurps916 I disagree. The bully is less athletic, less intelligent by a large degree, and possesses far less gameness. In short, these "breeders" have generally produced an inferior animal that likely does not have as stable a temperament than a traditional Pit, who have a more stable temperament than just about any other breed. That's because the goons breeding bullies are doing it for looks whereas the pit was originally bred for gameness alone. Dogs bred for looks have more problems.

Awesome Video!! I've been wanting to make one all about the true APBT. Just can't find the time. These American Bullies wouln't make decent work dogs. Let alone a Fighting dog. I hate dog fighting, but to deny the APBT it proper place in history as a valinat fighthing dog would be wrong

I've owned both of these breeds.

Hands down the American Bully has a better temperment.

The aggression has been breed out of this breed.

Wonderful with people, children, and other animals.

I'm not saying APBT can't be fine dogs, just that on a whole American Bully's are more domesticated.

adopted my dog from the philly pound. she is an apbt who was abused, left out in the backyard 24/7, 365. hate pits all you want, idc. i hate poodles. but then again, i don't try to murder mass amounts of poodles do i? as far as BSL laws go, You can have the leash when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.
