In answer to your second comment, building capacity will build our input into national issues like the environment. By increasing our peoples socioeconomic, educational and health status we'll be able not only make change as part of the Government, but also as members of lobby groups.

An Aboriginal House would be a consolidation of peoples, ideas and resources. Maybe one reserve has great, cost-effective ways to combat addiction. Spread the program across all of our nations. The same could be said for any other program. We've been going it alone too long, in my opinion we need to band together all our peoples and speak with one voice.

There's currently 200 reserves in Canada with anywhere from 200-20, 000 peoples. I think it can be appreciated that the Federal government is more likely to listen to 20, 000 than 200.

In answer to your first point, I think an Aboriginal House would be more effective in finding solutions to common problems that have common solutions on reserve. For example, we have poor sanitation on reserve. The solution? Create sewer systems and better water treatment facilities. Why do most communities still not have this basic resource? In my opinion, it's because we've spread out and diluted our political influence.

Regrettably my computer is having issues with me, so I'll answer your questions in print.
I think you brought up good points. Why not have Aboriginal people self-tax and self-govern on each individual reserve? Will input into national issues be decreased with creation of a third seat of government?

Hey Stejones,
I have a video response, but haven't found the time to post it. Great questions though!
