  • @keegan773 The sidewinders was shit in the first models: only a very narrow and direct shot behind the target was effective...Better use the guns...

  • @GishabrunLOB Not exactly. The MiG-15 used a direct copy of the Rolls Royce Nene jet engine. The MiG-9 used a direct copy of the German Jumo that was not nearly as good. But they both used copies of western engines. The MiG-15 was influenced by the German Ta-183, a swept-wing jet that never got off the drawing board. I think our F-86 sabre *may* have been influenced by it as well.

  • @FrancoHitlini Well, not so much for the sake of experiment back then but the drive was on and Russia was a little behind in jet technology. The speed of development by Mikoyan though and the jump from the Mig 9 to the Mig 15 makes me wonder if they didn't pick up more than just engines and alloy shavings from their trip to the UK.
