B52 Stratofortress - The Fairchild Crash
June 24, 1994. The Tragic B52 Crash at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington. The Pilot was blamed for the accident, the footage before the crash was of him pushing the aircraft's limitations. The B52 Overbanked and impacted with the ground at high speed, bursting into a fireball. Apparently, the ailerons offer little to no effectiveness in recovering once the bank angle exceeds 45 degrees. Fatalities: 4

Boeing B767-260ER - Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961
November 23rd, 1996. 3 Ethiopian Hijackers seeking political asylum demanded that the plane be flown to Australia. They were disorganised, intoxicated and whilst threatening to detonate a bomb, all they had was a bottle of liquor, still enough to cause damage, but maybe not bring the plane down. The Plane had only enough fuel for its short-haul flight, and not enough to even make it a quater of the way to Australia. However disorganised, they remained in the cockpit, threatening the pilots. The plane eventually ran out of fuel, and came down in relatively shallow water. It is an Air Crash Investigator episode, look it up: 'Ocean Landing'
Fatalities: 123

McDonnell Douglas DC-10 - United Airlines Flight 232
July 19, 1989. The DC10 is a Tri-jet, with an 1 engine mounted on each wing, and another engine on the tail. The tail engine, Number 2, failed during flight because the turbine fan exploded. The turbine fan, located at the back of a jet engine has to be made from a strong titanium alloy, in order to withstand high heat and rotational force. In this plane, there was a fault with the construction of the turbine, which resulted in a weakness of the structure. It disintegrated mid flight, causing damage to the hydraulic system. Hydraulic Pressure was lost, rendering the plane uncontrollable, because hydraulics is what move the control surfaces. The pilots used differences in the power of Engine 1 and 2 to turn the plane, and managed to guide it to Sioux City Airfield. The plane lined up on Runway 22. Its speed was 100kts (180kph) greater than the speed for a safe landing, and it was sinking too fast. Just before impact it veered to the right, and the wing impacted the ground resulting in the explosion of the fuel tank.
Fatalities: 111

QF-4 Phantom - Point Mugu Airshow Disaster
April 10, 2002. The F4 was flown by Navy Cmdr. Michael Norman, (pilot), and Marine Corps Capt. Andrew Muhs, (radar intercept officer) in formation with 2 F14's, 2 F18's and another F4 when exiting, it suffered engine trouble and then a subsequent Flame-Out. It crashed, and exploded, killing the two men.
Fatalities: 2

F-86 Sabre - El Toro Crash
May 2, 1993. The Vintage Sabre jet, a Canadair F- 86E Mark 6 registered N3842J, skimmed the ground during an Airshow and burst into flame. The pilot, the sole operator, was killed in the crash.
Fatalities: 1

Lockheed P-38 - Duxford Aerodrome Crash
14 July 1996. This American Plane was performing at an Airshow in England. It entered a roll, and performed more rotations than originally planned, therefore resulting in less room to recover, and an impact with the ground. The Pilot, the sole occupant was killed.

The LZ-129 Hindenburg
May 6, 1937. Possibly one of the most famous crashes, and most spectacular crashes in history. It spent over one year in service, performing the Atlantic crossing. On this day, it had arrived late to the airfield due to a thunderstorm. It suddenly exploded, and the nose pitched violently upwards. The tail struck the ground in flames, and the rest of the airship followed. The remaining interior and frame were incinerated in the intense Hydrogen fuelled fire. The official cause of the crash is still unknown, but the most likely explanation is that a spark caused a hydrogen leak to ignite. Through testing, it has been found that the grey skin of the airship was coated with a highly flammable substance which may have fuelled the fire further. The crash lasted just over 30 seconds.
Fatalities: 36

Total Body Count in this video: 278 people dead.

  • Wow very intresting work...!

  • @psychlord1 I hope one day you're dream will come true, are you unable to fly completely or can you just not get a license?

  • this video almost makes me cry, i wish i could get some air time, am 25 with cerebral palsy, have fs9 and fsx , i've flown every plane i can dream of in the sim, yet i have never been in a real aircraft. if i could get at least an hour in the air before i die i would be so grateful

  • veeery nice very nice very nice done! greets from swiss to all out there!

  • What the **ck were 62 people looking at to dislike this video? This is just beautiful. On my lists of favorites. Just gives me a wings fix when I need it. The crabbed landings at the beginning are my favorite. But video just owns ..
