You go a bit overboard with the safety thing. Put the magazine in another room? Are you really that unsure of yourself? Come on.

As for lasers, you could also use a flashlight. Blinds the hell out of them, and you know where the gun is pointing. A bright-ass flashlight can completely debilitate them at night, and it's pretty intimidating, so you might not have to even fire a shot. Of course, you can't calibrate a light. And, with a shotgun...you want them to see the shotgun.

I believe Jose from the anime Gunslinger Girl had it right when he said "in combat sights are a luxury dont use them." i also think you should never pull a gun unless you truly intend to use it to shoot someone to save either yours or someone elses life.

What i do is print one of each out and take them into work and photocopy a whole lot for free on the big copy machine there... It pays to ask the boss first tho :-/ lol
