  • Just watched this again. One of the best Icies songs ever but don't the audience of old age pensioners and young scallies look bemused? Philistines, the lot of them....

  • Just proves what a cracking band the Icies were/still are, even as kids in rainy old Liverpool. Doesn't Ian look young?!

  • Although the Icicle Works were never my favourite band, their first LP made a strong impression on me. One highlight was the lyrics from this track 'You are what you are.....you are what you know you are' just at the time in my life when I most needed to hear them.

  • @bodyprojectfoundatio i remember watching this!!!!!!

  • Got to hand it to Ian McNabb for doing three things at the same time.

  • OMG where did you get this from whover put it on? I am in the crowd there! I've never seen the tape, went cos my neighbour was a friend of the drummer, used to go to all their gigs was good mates with C Laye used to see him in his music shop and he'd get us free tickets.

  • Quite a treasure. Loved this band -- never understood why they didn't chart better.

  • This was on Granada and i have the whole half hour on vhs tape and will have to load some more of this up. It was their first TV appearance as far as I know on a very wet lunch time outside St Nicholas's church near the Pier Head in Liverpool. The gardens was most recently used as part of the Liverpool Nativity on BBC in 2008. Drummer Chris Sharrock went in to perform as Robbie Williams drummer and then as part of Oasis - he is currently working with Noel Gallagher on a new project.

  • echo and the bunnymen

  • why were this band not massive?..l cant work it out,l supose they were a bit out of time...

  • Playing synth whilst strummimg the guitar !!!

What a hero !! One of my favourite bands ever !
