Background. I've meditated (although without chanting) in a temple. I can quote the four noble truths.I value internal reflection and can see the importance of bringing forth one's true being into the world with compassion.

Application here. From what I know of Siddhartha's story, one key was the suffering he saw when he left the palace. Rather disappointing that its not here. It may not even be in the movie. Rare that I watch movies nowadays anyway. I won't be going to see this one in a hurry.

The book was an interesting and change-inducing novel when I was 18, but some maybe get a little too carried away with getting enlightened and all that. All in all, if choosing between movies instead of thinking about reading a book, I'd rather look at samples from "Kung Fu" than watch the movie "Siddhartha."

As a practicing Buddhist I liked the book okay, but I don't understand why people have latched onto it as they have. I've met so many people who say it is the greatest book, deep, life-changing... they act like they've reached Enlightenment simply because they've read this story. And then they don't bother to look any further for the fundamental truths of existence. It's a good book - that doesn't mean it has all the answers.
The movie looks fine to me. Is that Shashi Kapoor?

what? you are rude. You could have said it nicely. But your bad attitude is the reason hate begins in the world. However, I shall simply ignore you and act as if you never existed.
