This is a newscast I directed for ABC2 in Baltimore. This in the 6pm show and as you'll see it's about a winter storm that was rolling through the area and our team coverage of the event.

  • Dissolve-A crossfade transition between shots.

ChromaKey-: Green screen weather or traffic

With- with graphics ie:lower third nametag

    Take: cut to a shot

Cue: signal the talent that they are on cam and or mic'd

Package: A pre edited story usually from a reporter

Outcue: The last three words in a sot/package signaling the end

    OTS: Over the shoulder graphic

H2,P2,V11 etc: These are servers/decks that video is played from

Who is the other voice?: Probably a producer

  • Very smooth!

  • Wow this was amazing. What brand board do you guys use there?

  • @wuzzlevideos Probably the same as the BBC's "Stand by VT##... Run VT##" (or whatever the equivalent of actually playing out from tape is

  • @narnia0100 Gallery has feeds of all sources - cameras, online VT segments, banner as separate, etc etc all going to monitors in the wall. Also have Preview and live TX monitors...

Although the BBC's Stewart Morris was FAR more entertaining..

  • @Gnarlissimo

I appreciate it, but I don't think he's saying "wipe," because when he says it, I don't see a transition.

  • This is fantastic! How did you know which camera shows which scene? Did you have several TV sets to see each camera? Where were you seated or where did you work?

  • @smithck I believe that cue was "wipe," just spoken quickly.

  • I watched your other director's track audio as well as this one. I gotta say, that is one well-called and clean show, and I'm using these vids to study and learn how to better call shows myself. Great work, and hopefully I can work on market #26's level someday.

  • This is great stuff! Thank you for uploading.

Question: There is a term you use and I'm not quite sure what you are saying. Ex. 4:50 into winter storm, it sounds like you are saying "wit" or "whip"?

Again, thanks for sharing your Directors track and please upload more!
