So I went over to the youtube and found some guys complainin. I says what the heck you guys complainin about? They says its the overacting. So I says what do you mean by overactin, and they says the accents were doin are too exaggerated so I says well jeez thats a darn shame that you think that. I says this is supposed to be a comedy, youre supposed to laugh at this. So then they left to go complain about somethin else.

End of story.

As a fellow Minnesotan, I remember when my dad first saw this movie and how pissed he was because of the horrible accent that everybody had. Then the next day we went to church and old Ole Gustafson comes up to my dad and goes "So I asked my son what he thought of all this rain and he says 'My crops won't do well' & I says 'Yeah that's not too good a deal for anybody'" So I says, "What do you think about that dad?" He says "Oh jeez!" Just saying, the accent & mannerisms DO exist in that state!

This movie is quite something to behold. I've seen it a few times and I can never get over how incredibly brilliant all the actors are. My husband and I use those accents all the time for fun you know oh yaaaa.

i think i probably missed something..but i think the coens next movie was the masterpiece The Big Lebowski...

what was all the big deal about this movie? ok it s a good drama/whaterver.

never one of my favourites although Macy was great and Mcdormans was breathtaking..
