In their response to the Penn State football sex abuse scandal, the NCAA handed down major sanctions against the football team, including a 4 year postseason ban, a 5 year probation period, a reduction in scholarships, and the vacating of all wins from 1998 to 2011. The vacated wins will also be reflected in former head coach Joe Paterno's career record, no longer positioning him as the winningest head coach in college football history.

@Shecklevich A good man? Are you serious? Would a good man have allowed a pedophile to use his facilities to abuse children over the course of 10 years? No a good man would not have taken any part of it. Joe Pa even stopped an investigation of Sandusky.

Joe Paterno was a good man he made a mistake because he didnt want to ruin the reputation of Penn States football. Everyone makes mistakes and his is only considered to be so severe because he had such a huge impact on the community. Jerry Sandunsky is the monster here, not joe-pa.

Penn State deserves the fines but not the players. NCAA is sending a serious message.

What the university did was disgraceful as we all know, but punish the people who were involved in it, not the students and football players, why give them less of a chance in life because of what happened when they were what? like 3 years olds? Right, they have to be punished but not the football team and if anything, NOT as bad as they were! I also see no point in vacating the wins, even if he killed someone what he won was history should stay! we couldn't just forget about the nazi's & jews!
