He maxxarcarde,
Why are dual gigabit ethernet cards so expensive ($150) when i can get 2 trendnet gigabit ethernet PCI cards ($10 each)? i dont get this?

@NightWolfEditing I actually got mine on Ebay for around $15 used. Server cards are usually a lot more durable, and perform better. It's nice to have the bandwidth of the 64 bit PCI slot too.

Who is your ISP? did they give you that modem or didi you buy it? hows is it working for you?

@samlaxrocks Using Charter Cable. The modem is sweet. I can get 60+ MB/sec during off-peak hours, and I only have a 25 Meg service. Soon I'll be upgrading to 60 Meg service.
I got the modem from Newegg.

Wow. Running for 4 years straight is amazing. I'm surprised the hard drives lasted that long. I wonder what brand of hard drives you have. By the way, don't you think having a server for a router is a bit of an over kill especially if you can achieve the same results with a cheap P3 desktop. I'm running PFsense on a Dell Optiplex GX110 (900MHZ,128MB,20GB) for a year now with no problem. Anyways great video.

@dawgp0und I use real servers for the reliability and easy maintenance. They must also be able to deal with high speed traffic. The whole network is Gigabit, shared between 4-10 users, and my cable service will be around 100 meg later this year.
