  • Patrol driver just brakes, snow hill didn't stop it, lol. So this vid is just a shit from Audi marketing department.

  • @wolfpackable

I'm not from the Audi marketing. I just prefer real snow tests than BMW carpark test. If you try both car in winter you will know what is the difference betweeen the two cartype. Until it you are just another clever teenager or car seller...

  • this test was invalid as soon as the nissan patrol stopped with the brakes

  • @Lightfromsirius Diesel engine at low gears can't die, it will be only a matter of traction on wheels.

  • Boys, do not argue with Germans over German cars. We know our cars most and BMW and Audi both have full 4WD with different concepts. Therefore, for us in Germany AWD and 4WD the same. The rest is called 2+2.and this concepts are so far below our level, they are not for us to debate.. Maybe as small car solution for grandma.

All or nothing. Thts german. You understand?

  • @wolfpackable

I know the test and what you write is wrong-

The slope was so steep that the engine of the Patrol died off in first gear with reduction gear. The video description is not true. All vehicles had four-wheel drive.

  • 325ix e30 would do that

  • 4wd and AWD ARE pretty much the same thing when you get down to it. AWD is simply an automatic, part time 4WD system. There are two types of 4wd systems, part time and full time. Full time systems send power to all 4 wheels, all of the time. Part time systems have to be manually changed between 4wd and 2wd. AWD systems are normally in 2wd drive mode and switch automatically when there is a demand, to 4wd (or AWD if you prefer) mode. AWD is what "4wd Auto" is on GM trucks/SUVs.

  • @enyedigergely Yes, but XDrive is an AWD system, not a 4WD system.

  • @enyedigergely Audi and BMW are both awesome rigs. Choose to your liking.

But Audi beating Nissan Patrol in a climb test? That's kind of ridiculous. Especially knowing that Audi's electronic offroad system << than classic 4WD with low range and rear diff lock.

There are three decent electronic 4WD systems (according to my own experience) - xDrive, SAWC and Quadra-Trac II. Cayenne and Touareg have some promising systems too, but I didn't test them myself, sorry.

  • But the X5 still have the Xdrive system...
