Marilyn vos Savant discusses the idea of truth, and how people mistake bias for perspective. Maturity and intelligence help people to recognize the bias as well as the underlying truth. That's why maturity and intelligence are very useful tools that people can and should develop. These intellectual tools help us to learn objective facts about the world around us so that we can then make accurate and productive decisions.

  • @WontBeSaved First, measured by who? And how do you know no one is fibbing? And second, IQ is a great test of overall intelligence? No. MANY people who's IQ's are "listed" as being very high say and believe some of the most ridiculous things. I'd take what they say and believe in over a IQ claim anyday.

  • @gr8vibes2 Even though her IQ was measured at 228..

  • acts smarter than she truly is

  • @ClamCrunchy

Beeing religions and having low intelligence are coincident.

  • @JohnJ2427 you say oh and wait...i dont understand english enough to understand what you are saying....however, yes i was referring to "example of a news conglomerate ignoring information that... ". I will read about this example tomorrow and respond

  • @slovakmath Sure. Just the other day I encouraged a friend of mine to get her news from multiple sources. I even tweeted something similar last week.

Oh, you mean an example of a news conglomerate ignoring information that contradicts their preferred narrative. Okay, how about the New York Times ignoring the bankruptcy of Evergreen Solar, a company that got tons of green subsidies and some stimulus cash.

Wait, maybe I was right about what you meant the first time.

  • @JohnJ2427 give me one example.

  • @slovakmath Actually, they seem to do it all the time. That's why I personally encourage people to try to get their news from a diverse set of sources. That's the best inoculation against both intentional and unintentional bias that I know of. People have to take some responsibility for themselves at some point in time, especially in a society as free as ours.
