Chris Knight - Enough Rope

Singer song writer Chris Knight playing the title track off his album Enough Rope. He wrote this song about a guy that he used to play little league baseball with. He said the chorus just means if you don`t give yourself to much slack ( rope )you won`t get into any trouble....you can`t get in trouble if you don`t have enough rope.

I always took the meaning of the song as life is not great but not bad enough to kill yourself. Just my interpretation though.

On a neat side note, I live about 45 minutes from Chris Knight

I`ve heard Chris say that this song just means, that if you keep your nose to the grindstone and stay busy working, you won`t get into any trouble. You can`t if you don`t have time. You can`t hang yourself if you don`t give yourself "enough rope"

That's makes so much sense? I mean I grew up in Eastern Ky and all the 'ol timers spoke about "Idle " hands leading to driving a man crazy ...with that being said I always interpreted the song actually with Chris being proud of his buddy that was actually working. Great song..written by a great songwriter!

Chris is a truly great song writer, one of the best I think. I just wish more people knew about him, so tell your friends. Thats the reason I put these videos up, just trying to spread the word.

My pleasure! Chris is the man, and I`am hoping to just help spread the word about him a little here on youtube. I don`t know if you`ve ever heard of Scott Miller, but he`s a pretty good singer song writer also, and I`ve got a couple videos up that I took of him the other night, so you may want to check him out.
