yes, again, i don't take oscars seriously anymore b/c of decisions like this. trying to figure out what goes through the minds of the oscar voters is really a lost cause! i think it boils down to popularity in the end. witherspoon is a more 'popular' and 'media-friendly' celebrity, while huffman (even though desperate housewives was a big, but it was a TV show) was really kind of a hollywood 'unknown'; i just think the academy goes w/ more 'en vogue' choices more often than not

drlee2, I have a question for you. I'm not American, but in my country and anothers places too all experts said that who was gonna win was Reese, but the best performance of that year was Felicity. Including USA, I read many comments of 'experts' in the same way (so, yeah, I agree that Oscar doesn't give who really deserve). And second, many of those experts only review Transamerica after Oscar and all said it was for the wrong person like Gwyneth Paltrows oscar.

oscars make me sick; i remember that year, all the 'experts' were saying that witherspoon was going to win or just HAD to be the winner and i was like, "why, exactly?" just seems like a popularity contest too much to me.
