  • Ah, Robert White, my favorite tenor - seamless phrasing, effortless, beautiful singing. Stephen Hough's sensitive accompanying completes the perfection.

  • Robert White is my favorite tenor as well.. Great work

  • @PhilMahnken @chopinlover49: I bought the album Birdsong At Eventide just receinly, because of the pianist Stephen Hough. But I must say, the singing by Robert White is absolutly fantastic. Can't stop listening to this song and "The Fairy Tree". The whole album actually is top notch. It is available for download from Hyperion Records.

  • @chopinlover49 This album Birdsong At Eventide is loaded with great tracks. It is the one.

  • @LancelotLinkster It is because you were a different person then.

  • Of all the great lyric/Irish tenors I have ever heard, Robert White is the best! I have a record (not on cd) called I Hear You Calling Me which is mostly Irish songs and 2 cds of turn-of-the-century art songs which are delightful. I would buy anything he is on so if anyone has suggestions, let me know. He is wonderful.

  • I have never heard anyone sing this song until now, (though I have posted my version of it on Youtube -Lorna Kelly). However Robert White's rendering, (like Lancelotlinkster) brought a lump to my throat. Not many singers, especially in present times, can do that to me. Wonderful, and thank you.

  • This is good, and I once heard Robert White live, but try Richard Tauber's version.

  • I had this on a 78 record and cried my eyes out when I heard it for the first time. Now I wonder why?

  • Hace algunos años enconre un Long Play de este cantante, y en Hyperion Records cantaba esta misma canción, Gracias a youtoube he podido bajarla y guardarla. Es uan voz de tenor muy original. Canta con sentimiento.
