Yes, it was originally part of (well the) game division of atari but because of new management the started a separate company.

Could have been a great system had it been released in 1984 like originally planned and had it had better sound. It also needed many of the classic arcade games it lacked such as Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Frogger, Q-Bert, Galaxian, and more. Some of these games were made after market but way too late.

@purplefreak7410 yeah! i actually moved it back so i could hear the guy say that again. i can't believe we actually believed at some point in time that those graphics were "lifelike". and in 1988 i would have totally agreed with them. my brother mentioned last night that when "double dragon" was released, he figured that graphics couldn't get any better than that. that was as lifelike as they could possibly be.
