The Maple Leaf forever (original version)

"O Canada" is not an anthem but a 'dirge" because of its ballad like characteristics. In theory we should go back to God Save the Queen.

It is a dream that shall never come. Though with hope may we pray that there will be a return to swearing allegiance to Her Majesty and perhaps even fly the Union Jack!

I'm new immigrants from Japan who really love my new country and it's history&tradition. And I strongly feel that Canada has been losing the true Canadian tradition, culture, and characteristics. Canada had made so many astonishing achivements in the past and there were so many proud connection with Britain.
But these days Canada is like Chinada, :( not a Canada.
God Save Our Queen! More Britishness in Canada !
Long live our British family which are Australia, Britain, Canada and New Zealand

If Quebec ever leaves I think we should make this our national anthem & re-adopt the Red Ensign. I doubt the politicians would ever do it, but it's nice to imagine.

I would love to take back the red ensign thats a fantastic idea, the maple leaf forever should have stayed, the new flag and anthem is far too plain, you're right the politicians probably would buy it sadly, thanks for responding

beautiful song... but completely understand why it's not our anthem. Perhaps if they added a few references to the Fleur-de-lis and France haha. The bagpipe music for this song is amazing though.

I love this song, but I think O Canada is a better "anthem" as opposed to this is a great hymn for Canada.
