The Malecon

The Malecon is about 1/4 mile long stretch in Esperanza bordering the Caribbean Sea. On the sea side is a nice walkway and beach. Across the street are tourist shops and not too spectacular restaurants.

How was coco beach as you mentioned and zoomed in. The waters good enough to swim in? I like the rocky atmosphere. We are interested to walk there everyday if, it is possible from the hotel accross the street from the Adventure tour for the Bio, "the Hacienda Tamarindo." We are trying to get away from renting a car. If, it means one beach that's a thirty minute walk then fine.

@ielkable That beach is ok, but there are many better. You could swim but it is a little rocky and the waters are rough. There are plenty of much better beaches like Sun Bay, Red or Blue beach, Navio, Media Luna, and on and on. You are staying fairly far from the good beaches, I would strongly recommend renting a car, or at least get a taxi a few days or bike.

Overpriced restaurants? It's an undeveloped tiny island in the middle of nowhere. The food has to be flown in every day. That's not cheap. Go back to Kansas if you want McDonald's.
