For all those who asked how I built my cajon... look at this model carefully (made with AutoCAD 2011 by the way).
Measures really don't matter, it all depends on what sound you want. Top, bottom, left and right panels are 10mm thick. Front and rear panels are 3mm plywood. There are two coiled springs behind the front panel, producing the snare sound. There is a sliding panel to change the size of the hole. The rest should be clear from the animated model.

  • HI, CAN U EXPLAIN HOW U DO THE ANIMATION N HOW U PUT THE TEXTURE IN THIS OBJECT!!! (PLZ EXPLAIN IT WELL IN DETAIL)

  • @TETOYVIENDO

@TETOYVIENDO It is done in AutoCAD 2011. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube

  • Amazing Cajón there! I'm definetly going to re-create the same thing! Quick questions, pedantic I know but can you explain more about the Sliding Panel? Is it made from the same sort of wood and how is it attached to the inside? Also the same for the Vertical Beam, what size is that?

Sorry for the tedious questions, thank you very much!

  • @MrMaximanic No problem ;-) Sliding panel should be a little thicker than the front and rear panel, otherwise it will start to rattle. It slides between the side panel, with the hole, and two 1x1cm beams glued to the bottom and top panels. The vertical beam is 3x5cm.

  • Way cool, thanks. Could I get any more info on the "coiled springs" situation? How are they attached inside? What are they/where do you get them? The bass drum is a great design, is it removable? Also could you give a basic dimensions for yours? I can't afford trial and error haha. Thanks again!

  • @debnlinda Sure pal. You can make the coils by twisting steel or copper wire around a thin rod (2-3 mm), or just look around in you basic DIY shop: long thin coils, about 15cm long. They are fastened so that they loosely touch the front panel. You'll have to experiment with that a little, to sort of 'tune' them. Base pedal is removable. Dimensions LxWxH: 60x45x40cm. Legs: 8cm. Hole = 17cm.

    Good luck!
