  • Powerful ---"music to bring any man to his senses." 5*****

  • Martin,

Charlie plays mainly D/D#, like Joe Cooley, though also C#/D (for "concert pitch").

    That's John Faulkner on bouzouki.

  • fantastic tunes,charlie

  • He is a great player, box expert and nice guy. I heard him talk at Willy Clancy Summer school.

  • Great tune set!!! The 'Cooley's Lark is a keeper. Martin and Damian Connolly do a great duo on this first tune.

  • The 1st jig is often included in a set called "The Lark in Morning set" associated with the box player Joe Cooley. I've seen it called The Lark in Morning, The Morning Lark and a few other names but I've never heard it called The Hardiman' Fancy (which is the name of another popular jig). The other two jigs in "The Lark in the Morning Set" are "Cooley's Jig" (aka The Bohola jig) and the jig most of us think of as "The Lark In the Morning".

  • Charlie played in Feekle, County Clare, in November 2010 at Peppers Bar with other excellent musicians. It was one night of sheer joy to hear such music like that Charlie played - it was so different from the pop star false music you hear and see nearly every where. Charlie and those folks who played that night: if you ever read this please know of the great pleasure your playing that night brought to me and others.

  • does charlie harris have a cd/album at all?

  • @kerrysupporter Thank you for reply. The late Michael (M ickey)Reilly from Longford/ Leitrim whom I knew, did play this tune on fiddle under that name and I was wondering what it is now called. You can get the notes for it in O'Neills Music of Ireland (1850) number 897.

  • @Lisnageeragh Dont know? never heard other musitions play it. id like to get the notes of it though

  • @kerrysupporter Lovely tunes indeed . Is the first one The House in the Glen...any views/ info
