Departure Ceremonies for the Working Visit to USA

President Benigno S. Aquino III leaves the country for a working visit to the United States of America from September 18-21, 2011.
In his departure statement, the President said that he is leaving the country for the United States of America to be part of the leaders that will lead the Open Government Partnership (OGP), according to the President this invitation is proof of the rising belief in the capabilities of the Philippines by other countries. He added that, he sees the visit to the USA as an oppurtunity to tell the world of the new enthusiasm that the Philippines demonstrates. On meeting with the Filipino Community in the United States the President said that he will thank them for their efforts ans contribution not only for their families but also for the countries economy.
President Aquino will be at the OGP upon the invitation of U.S. President Barack Obama and Brazil President Dilma Rouseff. The Philippines is one of 2 Asian countries that is part of the 8-country steering committee of the OGP, other countries are Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, Aouth Africa and the United Kingdom.
OGP is a new multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption and harness new technologies to strengthen governance.
Among the schedule of the President is his meeting with several businessmen, leading the ringing of the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange and meeting with the Filipinos working in the US.
