Fooling around with a prepared guitar.

Preparations: One toothpick, one flatpick.

Effects: BB preamp into TC Electronics SFC set to flanger into Boss DD-3 delay.

Direct injection from a Behringer mixing console.

Filmed wih my MacBook's build-in iSight camera.

I am of course inspired by good folks like Keith Rowe and Fred Frith.

  • This is strangely calming and transfixing. Almost otherworldly.

  • @moneyquickeasy Thanks! :)

  • The sad thing is, if ANY of you saw David GIlmour doing this, you'd be screaming with joy.

  • @MichaelEMJAYARE Thanks for this really nice comment. I am happy about all the positive comments and I don't really mind mind the negative.

I am sure David Gilmour would do it a million times better - but thanks. :)

  • really really awful :(

  • @cheesespin Sorry about that! ;)

  • This is cool! any tips on how to do prepared guitar? i can't find any sort of tutorial on how to start, i got some cool sounds by using a paper clip but that's about it.

  • this is unusual... trippy soundscapes....this plus some darkpsy would be real interesting. great job ...cuz the first video of noise music i saw made me hit my computer. (it was a lady in A B/W video). this is really good sound design sir.

  • I just love noise music! I really don't know why, but I just do so much!

  • nice setup, check mine out

  • Let the guy do what he wants guys. I don't necessarily like the texture of what you're doing man, but I applaud you for doing what you enjoy. I prefer just beating the guitar out of tune with the distortion after my reverb tank for some explosion sounds, and maybe banging the strings with a screwdriver. OH, and take the plastic plate off the back and the trem springs make for some interesting noise too.

    All the best!

  • Far out.

  • interesting effect. i like the way the notes mute out rather then sustain. combined with the feedback it really does sound like bells. lysergic bells.
