A&W commercial (1980s)

This is a Canadian A&W commercial that's been on RetroJunk for a while now. I currently don't know what year this was from, but it was apparently from a time when they previously sold fried chicken (that returned as Chubby Chicken in 2001).

I moved to the U.S. from Canada and I rarely eat at A&W anymore. The Canadian version is way better.

In the 60s Chubby Chicken was on the menu in Canada. I remember the big steel machines it was cooked in. The oil was in a round container the was s a crank on top screwed shut, the a timer set, as I remember it. The cook peeled potatoes by hand and cut them with a device on the wall. Swampwater, orange and rootbeer was popular. I was hired for 95cents an hour upped to a whopping $1.15, for because I was fast! Lots of good fun there.

Yum! Brands recently put A&W up for sale along with Long John Silver's, both of which they had purchased in 2002.

Used to be in the 80's the closest A&W's were in Wisconsin. Then sometime mid to late 80's they opened one up in Woodfield Mall Schaumburg IL Now they are combined with YUM Brands KFC Pizza Hut and I think Taco Bell?

the cool thing about this restraunt is theres old pictures in the restrunt and the one in AB fort mckmury has pictures of the A&w in the 50's 60's 70's and 80's and today
