Updated version of this lesson now available. See my site for the FULL lesson. Study in Travis Picking using the song Deep River Blues as a framework to build basic picking patterns, a solid groove and foundation then apply the words and begin working the song into 2 solid versions. One using only 3 chords and the other develops into the full Doc Watson style of picking, We cover some of the most important aspects of becoming a very solid player and VOLUME 2 will follow this lesson filling in all the bells and whistles and how to improvise and build your own advanced version

  • Hey Pal, thanks! Coming from you that's a great compliment :)

  • LB, ya got me back up on the horse with these deep river blues segments.. I have been playing loads of electric flatpicking stuff but this caught me ear and I have been playing this like mad lately.....you are a really fine player n teacher. If I come across something soon with which I need some help I will call on you.

  • Hello my blues friend. Anytime we'd love to see you on the porch with us anytime :)

  • Folks if you bought this lesson from my site and don't have this version you should have an email that leads you back to download this new improved version. I also improved the tabs and the color lesson guide book. You can learn a good part of the picking patterns in the middle of this demo. This is all about learning two basic versions and building solid techniques.
