  • call me a troll or whatever but I don't think that pointing out that one application of the death penalty being horribly unjust (the texas driving case) answers Huckabee's contention that there are some cases where it might be appropriate. I don't support the death penalty, but I don't think you're being fair to Huckabee. (I just hold liberals to the same argument standards I hold conservatives).

  • It is however a work of humor. I could sit there onstage and debate every piece of the death penalty (and would love to with you), but it wouldn't get anyone laughing. And that's my job.

  • of course you don't have to debate anything, but someone like Jon Stewart gets big laughs because not only is he funny, but his arguments tend to not have any obvious gaps in them.

  • My argument didn't have gaps. Ken Foster was going to be put to death for driving a car. That's not a "heinous crime," and it's not an eye for an eye. The death penalty is one of those rare issues in which doing it wrong once or twice or ten times is enough reason to stop the entire practice. And again, all of this would be too boring to say onstage.

  • I saw this again, many months later, and my first response was again: "I am SO pro Angry Gorilla". Didn't even realize I'd already posted that. How do you do it Lee?

  • Huckabee makes out that some crimes are so unthinkable we must use the death penalty, as if to say "we should only use the death pentalty in extreme cases".

Lee points out that it's not just in extreme cases that the death penalty is used, because even just the driver who had nothing else to really do with the crime was going to be put to death.

Problem? There is none. Good observation, excellent delivery, great humor.

    Keep it up, Lee.

  • Damn you kneecole! I was thinking that exact same thing and then I couldn't post it 'cause I thought "Oh well, someone else already said it". I too, am pro angry gorilla.

What're you going to take Ron Paul up on? You know you gotta do it. Can't wait for the next episode!

  • "call me a troll or whatever..."

Ok, troll. Or should I say, sheep?

  • i agree with lee -- talking about real issues in an accessible way is really difficult, which is why it's rare and unique. great job on doing so, and doing it well!

  • lol mad funny
