Kasha & Aaron (kashamusic.com), from the concert/discussion at Reuter Center on the UNCA campus, March 29th 2009. We did a couple of guitar/cello/voice things to highlight the "color" contrast between piano/cello/voice vs. guitar/cello/voice, and talked with the audience about the profound difference in "color" even just depending on whether the guitar was strummed rhythmically vs. finger-pick-style linear playing... It was wonderful to talk with the audience about these aspects of composing and arranging. "Who I Am With You" is from Fall 2008 (words annd music copyright 2008-2009).

Text:
I have mem'ries now I never should've had
of you, who I never should've known.
You chose to seek me out and speak to me.
You chose to close that book and to walk away alone.

Across the years, across the distance,
even when you hadn't said a word,
I still heard somehow.
So who knows how I so misread what you actually said, just now.

You said we had a rapport beyond the ordinary,
talked of how you were enjoying my company,
so I got bold, and I told you "Well then,
turn this next page with me." Next thing I know,
I'm surrounded by debris.
I crossed a line, it never was up to me,
and from the distance you send word, and I see:
Yours will be the last word. You'll say you're through with me.
You'll say I should go my own way now, on my own.

But who I am with you cannot exist apart from you. You say
"Go on your way now on your own."
But as you speak, there's no one there to hear,
'cause who I am with you
disappears
disappears

So I have mem'ries now I never should've had
of you, who I never should've known.
You chose to seek me out and speak to me.
You chose to close that book and to walk away alone.
You chose.
I would've loved to've been in that book of yours until the end, but no.
You chose.
You chose.
