"In the Shadow of Indefinite Detention" a play about those still incarcerated in the Guantanamo Bay Prison Complex was first performed by the Bread & Puppet Theater. Then adapted by Ken Srdjak for this performance in front of the White House, in January of 2012 the 10th university that the "special" U.S. territory in Cuba, was being used as a prison for "special prisoners" caught up in the unending "War on Terrorism." The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) requires mandatory military custody for suspects linked to al-Qaeda or its affiliates - meet some of them and examine the evidence.
The base was originally meant to be used as a refueling and watering station for the United States Navy.

Clive Stafford Smith appeared in a Guardian TV special, is a U.S. Civil Rights and Death Penalty lawyer Providing Assistance to Guantanamo Prisoners. In August 2004 he returned from the US to live in the United Kingdom. He is now the Legal Director of the UK branch of the human rights not-for-profit Reprieve. In 2005 he received the Gandhi International Peace Award.
