Also have spliced old phone chargers with low wattage output and used a resistor for things I could do with a power source. But for them to be really visible make sure you have a secure connection and I would estimate at least 3 days. Here is a link that makes it clear
@jebus1208 depending on the color of the light (different light frequencies drain more power) a few days to stay bright. I've seen a little glow in red months after connecting. Also depends on the quality of the battery. I use some cheap 5 for a dollar batteries from the swap meet or you can find them on ebay. Not sure what the battery life would be on like a duracell or something from the drug store.
