RAK Petroleum has chartered the first Topaz Wave Piercer for use in the Gulf, the Company announced today. Designed by Incat Holdings Limited of Australia and built by Topaz Marine based in Dubai, the long-term charter vessel will be used for production crews commuting to and from the Company's offshore Oman platforms. Lundin Petroleum says that drilling of exploration well 3/8-1 on the Barchan prospect has commenced. The well is located in licence PL400 in the Norwegian North Sea. PL400 is located some 12 km east of the Trym Discovery in the Southern North Sea, close to the boundary between the Norwegian and Danish sectors. India is encouraging state-run oil companies to acquire oil and gas assets abroad as demand in the energy-hungry country is rapidly outpacing domestic supply, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Monday.
