This video features Montserrat Caballé singing Pleurez mes yeux from Massenet's opera Le Cid during a televised concert held at Kings Dock in 1992 on the occasion of the visit to Liverpool of the Tall Ships. The Tall Ships Race and the concert also commemorated the 500th anniversary of the arrival in the New World of Christopher Columbus.
The concert was performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Robin Stapleton and Julian Reynolds - and featured Montserrat Caballé, Julia Migenes, Mario Frangoulis, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Justino Diaz, Monserrat Caballé , Alfredo Krauss, Dennis O´Neil, Rita Hunter and Paco Peña. It was attended by the King and Queen of Spain

Madame Caballe deserves all my respect but I feel I lost 6:13 minutes of my life serching for something that I only found with Callas ... CALLAS FOREVER

She didn't take the high note at the end here before going into the deep chest sound like she did when Domingo was conducting. That's here on tube as well. Take a look at that one. So much better!!!!!
