The 08/09 season was the first season for nuneaton under the name of Town after Nuneaton Borough had been liquidated in the summer of 2008. The liquidation resulted in a 2 league demotion from the conference north to the Southern League Division 1 (Midland).

After the lows of the 2008 summer Nuneaton set about trying to work their way back to where they came from. The season culminated in the team reaching the play off final and, infront of a crowd of over three thousand at Liberty Way, gaining promotion to the Southern League Premier with a 1-0 victory over chase town. Making the summer of 2009 much happier than that of the year before!
