I remember this well. It was a great ending.

Newhart turned into a great series but it started weak. It was allowed to continue and it was a break most shows don't get.

@JohnBoy918 Amen! Unfortunately it's been so many years since then that I suppose many people viewing today don't understand that it had its genesis in that silly season of the TV series Dallas, in which we learn at the end that the entire year had all been a dream of one of the protagonists.
