Cantona was the trawler,the press were the seagulls,they wanted his side of the story (which was the sardines) and he wasnt gonna give them any sardines. :D

Actually Cantona said some time ago it was his intention to say something stupid and then go. The joke being that everybody tries to figure out what that meant.

I belive he ment he wasn't gonna play the game of the media and go nutts, because that is what the "seagulls" was expecting... So he cut the interview just after that..
