It is a perfect day for me to my test new tactic 10lb leader. It is overcast, high tide in the morning. The water temperature is not too bad at 24C. I intend to use light gear. My previous setup up was custom modified ultra light rod, 6lb leader & braid line but fish has been busted my leader for past couple of trips. It seems I also lost initiation of control of fish. I believe I have to make a change to deal with this situation.
Today I made following changes. I use 10lb leader instead of 6lb. I switch back to my 2 -- 5kg rod to get earlier control of fish. This rod is stronger than the ultra light rod. So it transfers more power to rod tip to set the hook better. I also use stronger squidgies finesse 1.5gm #4 small jig to avoid hook failure. Everything is in place now. All I'm waiting for is the fish turn up.
I let the pictures tell the story
Thanks mate! I really had good time, so we have to keep our river system healthy!
