One of the most beautiful North American native fish species, tangerine darter (Percina aurantiaca) is found in high quality streams in the Upper Tennessee River system. These were observed while snorkeling on August 20, 2011. One of the males appears to have a bluish nose. Male coloration is even more beautiful during the spring spawning season.
