The day after playing at the Tao of Tea I drove to Cannon Beach, Oregon, to visit my old friend, Haystack Rock. It was blustery and chilly, but between rain squalls I was able to play and record a new tune on my Gen 1 PANArt Pygmy Hang.

The tune reminds me of the little sandpiper birds that race into the receding surf, then scurry back up the beach when the next wave comes in. Back and forth, back and forth, they never tire of their funny little dance. My Sweetheart and I love to watch them.

There were no sandpipers on the beach that day, just a lone gull hunkered down in the sand waiting out the weather and a flock of birds wheeling in the sky as they headed back to their roosts on Haystack Rock...but the sandpipers were there in spirit!

If you like my music, please leave a comment and then take a look at my other recent videos. If you are looking for videos from other Hang players, I suggest you check out the YouTube channels of: Dante Bucci (mutlunatic), Manu Delago (lovingmecha), Andisteil, PlayHangHang, In2nation, BeyondTheMountain, and Imagineye.

May the Hang be with you!

  • Love the Pygmy man. As always, the setting and playing compliment each other wonderfully. :)

  • Thanks, man! I compulsively bring Hang with me where-ever I travel. In the next few months I should be uploading a lot of tunes I've created but not videoed. Many the Hang be with you!

  • I'm the same way. My wife gives me funny looks because I do take it ( and the Halo now too) everywhere. "You never know!". I've also got hours and hours of video and some audio that I haven't done anything with. I've been pretty happy with the sound quality my little cam can get. May the Hang be with you as well. And remember, there is no try, only Hang! ;)

  • Does the Halo sound as good in person as it did in the Pantheon Steel video? I'm #19 on the list and hope to have mine soon!

  • beautiful.

  • the site of the goonies!!! like it !!!

  • To me, it sounds much better. You can actually hear the deep bass much more, and feel it too. Really feel it. It's definitely not a Hang. But it is most assuredly it's own instrument. For those that have or have played a Hang, the difference will be immense at first, the weight alone gives it a certain substantial feel that is different from a Hang. The texture is also something completely different. Myself.... I've found a great new inspiration in my playing. The Halo is a very fine instrument.

  • I have to Ebay(dot)Com (press worldwide) a original PanArt Hang Drum incl. Bag for sale. Price 1200CHF Shipping Worldwide.
