LOS COMIENZOS DE LA CONQUISTA Ya en los últimos siglos del segundo milenio, cuando egipcios e hititas declinaban y dejaban el campo libre para nuevos aventureros de la conquista, los asirios comenzaron a salir cada primavera de sus tierras del alto valle del Tigris para lanzarse sobre las regiones vecinas. Querían —como todos los pueblos ambiciosos— llegar a dominar la Siria y lograr así salidas al Mediterráneo, para lo cual trataron de dominar las ciudades que constituían la llave de los valles estratégicos; pero por entonces no contaban con las fuerzas necesarias y sus triunfos fueron efímeros. En el siglo IX, los asirios iniciaron una etapa de conquistas bajo las órdenes del rey Salmanasar III; todas las tierras de la Siria fueron recorridas por sus huestes, que sometían a tributo o a dominación militar los distintos pueblos que las habitaban; pero la resistencia solía ser enérgica y las sublevaciones frecuentes.- Sus sucesores perseveraron en sus campanas sistemáticas, y, entre todos, se destacó Teglatfalasar III, que consiguió dominar la Siria septentrional y apoderarse de su capital, Damasco, en tanto que en otras campañas conseguía apoderarse de Babilonia y toda la Mesopotamia meridional. Así, todo el valle de los ríos Eufrates y Ti-gris cayó en manos de los poderosos servidores de Ashur, que se dieron ahora una capital digna de su grandeza, estableciéndose en la ciudad de Nínive.

Gutian dynasty persisted until the end of the 17th century BC As a matter of fact, the wholly negative opinion that even some modern historians have of the Gutians is based solely on a few stereotyped statements by the Sumerians &Akkadians, especially on theinscription of Utu-hegal of Uruk(c 2116-c2110).While Old Babylonian sources give the region between the Tigris&the Zagros Mountains as the home of the Gutians, these people probably also lived on the middle Euphrates during the 3rd millennuim

@goran21715 I guess the Assyrians through the ancient inscriptions and historians call it a warlike and aggressive people, they thought that by themselves feared by their neighbors, the recklessness made​them invincible and dominate these last were left voluntarily. @marifian1 Es una pena Traviesa que el siglo XIX fuera ademas del mejor siglo de la Literatura europea, tambien la del conocimiento de las aniguas civilizaciones, hombre valientes surcando mares desconocidos o atravesando territorios inexplorados para que despues el simple lector pueda satisfacerse con sus aventuras. Ashur, also spelled Assur,located on the west bank of the Tigris River in northern Iraq. The first scientific excavations there were conducted by a German expedition (1903–13) led by Walter Andrae. Ashur was a name applied to the city,to the country, and to the principal god of the ancient Assyrians.
