Try a 2004 Sterling Vineyards Three Palms Merlot... simply divine.

my favorite was/is Canon de Brem, from the Fronsac. I think the one I loved most was a '95.

Enjoyed this one a lot, especially GV's just anger at the oak-throttled #4 wine.
Napa winemaking culture is tacky. (That's not what GV said, he's not so dismissive; it's my view.) Some of it's ultra-expensive tackiness, some is knockoff tackiness, but it's (almost) all vulgar and unrewarding.
They have some of the finest wine-growing terrain on the planet and that #4 wine is how they waste it.
