The Dachshund is a very strange creature. We've had four of them and the males were all sweet, kind, and non violent, but the female was MEAN! She bit everyone, including us. You better not go near her when she ate, or she would attack. But our males were nothing like her. The one we have now which is a male loves everyone. Except my Uncle. When he was a puppy. my Uncle stuck his finger in his face and he bit him. He's the only one Lucky hates.And Lucky is used to babies and children

My dach Molly was exactly the same when we first got her. Huge problem! She bit us MANY times, and snapped at our friends...I was in despair. I finally broke her by gently grasping her lower jaw in my hand...yeah it sounds scary and I admit, takes nerves of steel..but it worked. I stick my hand into her mouth such that she can't bit down. It doesnt hurt her, but it DEFINITLY shows her who's in charge. Srangely enough - she seems to like it !
