To say Maynard has skills is the understatement of the century. What an incredible band. There is no band like this today anywhere I know of.

It's amazing that he could just pick up a trumpet and play those notes right after playing trombone. Truly a genius. RIP, man.

38b is correct... MF is playing Valve Trombone. The Superbone was created in the 70's by MF an Holton/Leblanc when they also designed the MF Horn, (a VERY large bore trumpet as opposed the Conn Constellation he played earlier which was medium bore) and played a Jet-tone mouthpiece for many years. He later went with Dave Monet for his equipment.
