These spotfin chubs, Erimonax monachus, are mostly adults from fishes propagated at CFI and reintroduced into the Tellico River. This is a highly specialized minnow usually requiring clean swept, shallow bedrock areas in medium to larger rivers. After several years of efforts to reintroduce these fish into the Tellico River, we are beginning to see them regularly in a small section of the river. This year, we also saw good numbers of in-stream spawned young of the year fish!
