Rare as in finding a perfect, non corroded block. But they made just over 50 000 units (That´s the figure I know, might be more made...)!
Many people think the aluminum block is exotic racing stuff, but it´s main goal was saving front end weight in the normal family cars.
However, dispite it´s for the period very good castings. These engines were prone to head gasket failiure and corrosion problems (Wrong anti freeze used).
In -62 these blocks were discontinued.
